Chrismasy Butter Cookies
For today’s blog post, we have Chismasy Butter Cookies. These cookies are very simple to make and with your creativity, they can become great Christmas cookies.
The whole recipe can take you up to 25 minutes and you can get 20 to 22 medium size cookies, depending on how big or small you make them.
INGREDIENTS
EXACT MEASUREMENTS
1.- 500 gr of all-purpose flour.
2.- 250 gr of sugar.
3.- 250 gr of room temperature butter.
4.- 2 eggs.
5.- 2 teaspoon vanilla essence.
6.- A tiny bit of salt
MY WAY
1.- 250 gr = One cup in all my recipes, a regular mug(pic below)
2.- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
3.- 1 Cup of sugar
4.- 200 gr of room temperate butter(less than half of a 454g butter bar)
5.- a splash of vanilla essence
6.- 2 eggs
In the picture are 2 cups and a 341ml can, so you can see the sizes, doesn’t matter which one you pick, just stay with one size and you should be consistent :).
Procedure
1.- You take all the solids and mix them together in a bowl, with a wooden spoon, until you see they are evenly incorporated. By solids, I mean: The flour, the sugar and the salt.
2.- Add the eggs and mix them with a wooden spoon or a mixer if you have. I recommend you add them one by one.
3.- Add the butter and merge it with the dough. This time use your hands, “yes, you are going to get messy”. Some people melt the butter on the microwave to make the whole process faster but since I use my hands I don’t want to get burned 😅
4.- Add the vanilla essence and combine it with the dough or cookie batter.
5.- When you have everything mix, it is ready to make the cookies.
6.- Butter a baking sheet and start preheating your oven at 180ºC or 360ºF.
7.- Take some cookie dough in your hand and turn it into a little ball and then gently smash it into a flat circle (like a cookie), then place it in the baking sheet.
Optional: You can cover the cookies with sugar
8.- Repeat until you don’t have any cookie dough left.
9.- Place the baking sheet with the cookies inside the now warm oven carefully and leave them baking for 10 minutes. Take them out for 4 minutes flip them over and put them back into the oven for 4 more minutes.
10.- You can take a toothpick and stick it into a cookie and if it comes out a bit wet, It means that the dough needs some more baking. On the other hand, if it is dry it means that it is ready.
11.- When ready take them from the oven and let them rest at least 10 minutes before you try them.
12.-You can now share the cookies with your loved ones or eat them by yourself.
This is a very easy recipe to do. Instead of making little cookie balls and then smash them, you can use different cookie moulds, like Christmas trees or jingle bells or something like that and as mentioned above. Use your creativity.
I honestly hope you that like today’s blog and I hope you try this recipe. It is quite easy to do and it’s a very versatile recipe. You can experiment with different ingredients, if you try it and you find some interest mixes, please let me know. In my case I picked a whole wheat flour instead of an all-purpose flour but it tasted very well.
Best regards and I hope you have a wonderful weekend, write you next time :).
