This is who I am :)

This is who I am :)
I’ve realized that if you are going to choose to read my blog every week, it is fair that you know a bit about who I am and where do I come from.
My name is Alberto Yaconi Vilches. The reason of the name of my blog it’s because my friends called me Beto, and in the following text you’ll read some facts about me 🙂

Introduction

I’m originally from a city in Chile called Curicó, where I lived most of my life. I studied in a French school for 15 years where I  also was taught English. I went to that school, from the ages of 3 to 18. What it is uncommon, both the facts of going to one school my whole life and study in a French school.
That’s why, I’ve always been able to speak more than one language since I can remember, being one of the characteristics about my life that influence my decision of live/study in a different country (I’ll expand on that next week) and I’m currently living in the city of Toronto, city which I called my houseland because my homeland was, is and always will be my beautiful Curicó which we like to call Curiyork.

Who I am?

Some of my hobbies are watching movies, series, making cookies, brownies, pizzas and things like that when I feel like eating something different, going out with friends and sometimes walking around the city and finding new places to eat and now my newest hobby is writing.
I’m sociable with my friends and very polite with people that I don’t know. I’m a loyal friend, I’m don’t have many friends because I prefer to hangout with people with good values, that care about me as much as I care about them, I always put quality before quantity.
Sometimes I get the impression that people from my age finds me a little “cold” or “too serious”, but when they get the chance to really know me, they realize that I’m pretty chill and I care deeply about people around me.
In my life, I’ve learned how important it is to learn to listen to other people and that sometimes is better to keep certain opinion to yourself, if you are not going to help someone with your opinion or comments. The above mentioned became is a very important aspect about how I treat people.
I do like to help when they are in need but I’m not the kind of person that is looking, I’d love to help people, but I won’t go beyond my limits to do it and when I do help, I will prefer that instead of pay me the favour back, they pay it forward.
It’s very hard for me to dislike someone but when I do it’s very clear for everyone, that’s why I try to avoid hanging out with people that are toxic or negative.

What do I like?

My ideal day is when the weather is warm enough to hangout outside with friends and family, but not hot as hell or too humid because I rather stay at home or if I’m in Toronto I’ll flee from the heat going to Toronto Island where there is a cool and nice breeze and better weather overall. I also enjoy cold weather because I also enjoy doing stuff indoors.
My idea of fun is to watch a good movie/serie, hanging out with friends and most things that avoid being in crowded places. I also love spend time alone too, especially when I need to think about something or just relax on my own.
I love my lifestyle because I built it around my structured life but I adapt somehow quickly to change. Even when I’m having a spontaneous idea, I need to plan things beforehand. For example, this blog even starting this blog took me a couple of months deciding if I should or should not go through with it.
I usually focus on short-term objectives when talking about my life but I do have a dream board/a life plan/guide with all my goals, but not with a specific order because I came to realize that I’m not a fortune-teller, I don’t know what might the future have for me.
Even if sometimes times I procrastinate my tasks and duties, I take my studies/work very seriously and I always hand/finish things on time.
I’m interested in learning about different cultures and including certain aspects of other cultures to my own, for example in food, my favourite food is the Turkish cuisine and once a week I crave shawarmas, things that where I grew up, does not exist. I also try to incorporate positive characteristics that I learn from people and I try to learn at least one new thing from everyone.

What keeps me going looking for success?

I admire entrepreneurs with cool or innovating ideas as a general rule but one of my biggest inspirations alive is my Father, who is a grower, he is really passionate about what’s he does, and he showed me about long-term vision of the future. When he plants a fruit-tree, he has to patiently wait for years, before being able to harvest the fruit and hope that it rains or don’t rain in a specific month, because a slightly change from mother nature can damage all the harvest.
He always put his everything in his work. I really admire him. I hope someday to find something that makes me want to give my everything too.
The reason why I want to succeed in my life, is the motivation and support that I always get from my family and friends, in every crazy decision I take, they celebrate every victory and provide me a great support in every lost which provide me with more energy to succeed. Personally, each lost is a motivation and provide me the fuel that I need me move forward. The only people that fail are the people that don’t try.

Life in Canada

Coming to Toronto from a country like Chile, has made me realized, the differences, of two countries in which you can or you cannot accomplish your dreams. Even though I wouldn’t be here without the support of my parents, it was my dream to come to start this amazing trip and always maintaining a positive attitude.
Now, I am trying to graduate from College in the area of marketing, so, I can start a new beginning here in Toronto, to be an asset to the Canadian society, and to have a bright future in my life.

In next week’s article, I will be writing about what has been my greatest adventure, here in Toronto, in this interesting change of life to the life I had in Chile :)

I'm a blogger in the making and marketing enthusiastic from Chile, living his dream in Toronto. I post every Friday or every 2 Fridays :)
